Student Garden Progress 1: 5/23/2025
🌱 George Roy Community Grant Progress: The Greenhouse is Growing! 🌱
We’re excited to share an exciting milestone in the Lisbon Community School student garden journey—the greenhouse is officially built! 🌿
Thanks to the generous support from the George Roy Community Grant, what began as an idea has now taking root. This new greenhouse will serve as a vibrant, hands-on learning space where students can engage with gardening, sustainability, and science in a real-world environment.
As part of our ongoing mission to support education and community enrichment, this project brings together students, educators, and volunteers with one common goal: growth. From seed to sprout to harvest, every step is a learning opportunity—and a chance to nurture something meaningful.
We’re proud to showcase this progress and can’t wait to share more updates as the garden continues to flourish. Stay tuned!
Together, we're planting the seeds of community and cultivating a brighter future.
From the Greenhouse: Hanna’s View
“With the funding from the George Roy Community Grant, we were able to get a greenhouse -- which we would not have been able to afford otherwise. Our students started the seeds in their classrooms, and we were able to transfer them into the greenhouse before planting in the raised beds. The classes that did not start the seeds in their classrooms, were able to have a hand in this project by either filling the raised beds with soil, or planting the plants in the beds. Other classrooms have come to visit and enjoy the space. With the grant we not only were able to purchase the necessities, but also purchase items that are beautiful so that the space can be a place that is peaceful to visit. Every single student that has visited the garden wants to come back, and asks if any more work needs to be done on it. These kids love the hard work, and feel excited to be a part of something outdoors.”
Stay tuned for more updates from the Lisbon Community School Student Garden and the George Roy Community Grant.
