Fraud Alert – Phony Text Messages
We have been made aware of fraudulent text messages being sent to members claiming to be from Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union. These texts often contain urgent language about suspicious transactions and may include misspellings, such as “LIBSON COMMUNITY F.C.U.”
Example of the scam:
FreeMsg: LIBSON COMMUNITY F.C.U. Verify activity! Card @ Walmart for 425.22. Reply Yes, if recognized. Reply No, to temporarily DECLINE this transaction and receive a call regarding these transactions.
What You Should Do
Do NOT click any links or reply to the message.
Do NOT provide personal or account information through text, email, or over the phone unless you initiated the contact.
If you receive a suspicious message, call us directly at 207-353-4144 to verify.
How to Spot a Scam
Misspellings or incorrect names (e.g., “Libson” instead of Lisbon).
Requests for personal or account information.
Urgent or threatening language pressuring you to respond immediately.
